UML Chair Oli’s sarcasm to Prachanda: My brother plows land, he’s not an ambassador

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has sniffed sarcasm at Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda saying, “My younger brother still plows land. Did I make him an ambassador?”

Speaking at a program held in Kathmandu, Oli ridiculed Prachanda, without naming, for being a master in nepotism.

“Had I an intention to make my brother an ambassador, perhaps, I could have done that,” Oli said.

“Have you heard my brother expressing his desire to become an ambassador, or wanting to join a committee?” Oli asked.

UML Chairman Oli said that he has no intention of giving appointments on the basis of nepotism.

“I don’t even discriminate while distributing tickets for the elections,” he claimed, adding, “Tickets would be distributed to those who are capable, and those who qualify. There will be no discrimination against anyone.”

Oli further said that UML would face the elections with a balanced and sustainable development agenda this time.

Meanwhile, in a different context, he said he does not have enough money to get treatment if he becomes sick as he has already given his property to the state.

“I have announced that my property would be the state’s property,” he said.

Oli, meanwhile, said, he and his wife will be allowed to live in the house at Balkot in Bhaktapur as long as they live.
