Darchula faces shortage of vaccines against COVID-19



DARCHULA: The District Administration Office, Darchula, has issued an order for the general people to carry vaccination card along with them from January 20.

Although the Office, issuing a seven-point order, asked them to carry the vaccination card with them or to show in mobile phone mandatorily, there is shortage of vaccines against coronavirus in the district.

All the vaccination centres in the district are found running out of stock on Thursday.

Information Officer at the Health Office, Khagendra Karki, said, “We have demanded vaccines and it will be available in the district within a couple of days.

Only 77 per cent people have administered vaccine in the district so far.” The order issued by Chief District Officer, Dirgha Raj Upadhyay, has restricted gathering of more than 25 people at public places and operation of political, social, religious programmes and festivals.

In case of necessary programme, one should take permission of the District Administration Office and strictly follow the health safety protocols.

The District Administration has put in place restrictions such as the public vehicles are not allowed to carry passengers more than the stipulated number and wearing masks is mandatory.

Similarly, citizens entering the district from different parts of India and other districts within the country will have to stay in home quarantine under the supervision of the Health Section of the local levels.

Seventeen people were found infected with the novel coronavirus in the district until Thursday.

The infection is mostly found in the Nepali migrant workers returning home from India while carrying out tests for the infection at the border transit point.

The tests are conducted at Pulghat and Jaulajibi checkpoints of Darchula bordering with India.

Chief District Officer Upadhyay said that the health screening has been made strict at the border checkpoints in view of the soaring cases of the Omicron variant infection in India.
