Election is battle between parties standing for and against constitution: Prachanda

GORKHA: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that people would give verdict on the battle between the defender of constitution and anti-constitution forces from the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) and Provincial Assembly slated for November 20.

Addressing an election assembly at Dhairung of Sahid Lakhan Thapa Rural Municipality in Gorkha on Sunday, Prachanda, who is also the ruling five-party alliance’s candidate for HoR from Gorkha-2, said people will give vote for the candidates of left-democratic alliance to safeguard the constitution.

“KP Oli has led a coalition that comprises anti-constitution and anti-republican forces. The next coalition is led by myself and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba that has safeguarded the constitution. The anti-constitution forces should be defeated in the upcoming elections,” he argued.

On the occasion, Prachanda viewed that his attention was focused on completing the national pride project Budhigandaki Hydropower. “I will take needed initiatives for this,” he vowed.

Dahal stated that he was contesting polls from Gorkha for the district’s overall development instead of a particular constituency.

Likewise, candidate of left-democratic alliance for HoR from Gorkha-1 Rajendra Bajgain said the development pace in the northern Gorkha is stalled and promised to advance the development projects in his constituency.
