Parliament Secretariat publishes election schedule for Deputy Speaker election



KATHMANDU: The Parliament Secretariat has published the election schedule for the long-vacant Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

Earlier, in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota had directed the Parliament Secretariat to make public the election schedule of the Deputy Speaker.

Following the directive, Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat Gopal Nath Yogi issued a notice and made the schedule public.

According to him, a proposal for the election of the Deputy Speaker would be registered on July 14, and there would be a calling for the registration of candidates for the post of Deputy Speaker from 11 am to 1 pm on the same day.

As per the schedule the election for the post of Deputy Speaker will be held on Friday, July 15.

After the resignation of the then Deputy Speaker Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe, the post of Deputy Speaker had been vacant for almost two years.
