Supreme Court hearing on Prachanda’s writ against people’s representatives

KATHMANDU: Supreme Court (SC) is hearing on a writ petition filed by CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” seeking action against the people’s representatives who joined the other party after being elected from the Maoist Center.

The Maoist Center had taken action against some people’s representatives of local units who had joined the other party after being elected from the mother party.

The Election Commission (EC) had declared their posts vacant in line with the action against them taken by the Maoist Center.

However, hearing on the appeal filed by the people’s representatives, the SC had issued an interim order not to bar them from carrying out day-to-day official duties.

Leader Prachanda had filed a writ petition at the apex court seeking scrapping of the interim order.
