Rastriya Ekata Abhiyan denounces arrest of Chair Yadav

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Ekata Abhiyan denounced the arrest of its President Binaya Yadav on Monday.

Yadav was arrested when he protested the visit of Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress in Kathmandu on Monday.

Issuing a statement, the Rastriya Ekata Abhiyan denounced the arrest saying, “We, campaigners, strongly condemn the police action for arresting Vinay Yadav, the President of this Campaign.”

The statement said, “Yadav was arrested while raising his voice for the interests of the country and the people. It is reprehensible that the police arrested Yadav on the basis of the demand that the meeting of the visiting Chinese delegation in Nepal should be made transparent.”

“We believe that the government has violated the right to the freedom granted by the Constitution by arrested Yadav,” the statement added.

This step, according to the statement, has exposed the government’s undemocratic steps.

“The visit of the jumbo team in the face of the upcoming elections of the Chinese expansionist power, which is accused of playing a role of pressure in the formation of the left alliance in the 2074 BS general election, is suspicious in itself,” according to the statement.
