110 cancer patients provided financial assistance

KARNALI: The Public Health Office, Surkhet has provided financial assistance to 110 cancer patients.

They were provided transport fare- Rs 10,000 to each patient. In the current fiscal year, 2078/79, the Office provided Rs 1.1 million in total for the same.

Office Chief Ganesh Bhakta Gautam has said the patients were provided the transport fare so that it would be some help to them.

As cancer is not treated in Surkhet and they need to visit outside, the assistance- though little- would be helpful for transport. Although such assistance is provided once to the patient, those with very poor economic status are provided it twice.

Similarly, the tuberculosis patients seeking assistance are provided Rs 500 per month. For this, Rs 200 thousand was spent in six months, he added.
