Process initiated to start direct air service between Nepal and US

KATHMANDU: Formal process has started to operate direct air service between Nepal and the United States.

A preliminary agreement has been reached between the aviation regulators of Nepal and the United States.

A senior CAN official said that the initial agreement was reached after a high-level meeting and discussion between the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAN) and the US Federal Aviation Administration at the 57th Asia-Pacific Heads of Aviation Regulatory Conference in Korea.

Currently, there is no direct air connection from Nepal to the United States or from the United States to Nepal.

With the initial agreement, the process of direct flights between Nepal and the United States has moved forward.

This process will now be taken forward in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism, said a CAN source.

According to the source, officials of the Federal Aviation Administration will come to Nepal for various audits related to aviation before starting the air service.

After the completion of the agreement process between the two countries, airlines from both countries will be able to operate two-way flights.
