KMC to operate 10 smart toilets at the earliest

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is set to operate 10 new smart toilets in the metropolis.

The decision comes as the general public faces problems due to lack of public toilets in city areas.

At the second Executive Meeting of the metropolis held on Sunday. KMC Mayor Balendra Shah said “Smart toilet will be brought to operation at the earliest. As many as 10 new toilets will come in operation.”

He added several organizations in the city have voluntarily decided to allow the public to use their toilets during office hours. However, it was clarified in the meeting that such organizations would not get tax exemption.

Mayor Shah said the metropolis would, however, provide sanitary materials to those organizations every four months.
