Government tightens noose on access to Singha Durbar

Home Ministry invalidates previously-issued entry passes and temporary cards



KATHMANDU: Amid increased cases of coronavirus, the government has imposed restrictions to enter the Singha Durbar premises.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a press release on Wednesday rejecting all types of permanent and temporary passes or identity cards issued by all ministries, agencies, secretariats, commissions and offices until further notice.

The Ministry has stated that entry would be allowed for people producing new passes and identity cards with the prior consent of the Home Ministry on the recommendation of the concerned body.

A statement issued by Joint Secretary Pradip Kumar Koirala, who is also the spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs, said that for people related to sanitation, entry would be allowed on the basis of the previously issued passes.

In the case of journalists, they will be allowed to enter on the basis of the identity cards issued by the Information Department.
