Govt attention drawn to solve problems faced by education sector

KATHMANDU: The joint students’ organization drew the attention of the government and university towards the problems faced by the education sector.

The meeting of the joint students’ organization held in the federal capital on Monday concluded that some educational institutes were still running against the health and safety protocol set by the government in the wake of COVID-19.

The meeting expressed solidarity to the agitation being waged by the students in the Medical College. Similarly, the meeting condemned the suppression of agitating students in the Nobel Medical College and the Kathmandu Medical College under the Kathmandu University.

Both the Education Minister and Home Minister have been drawn attention towards the suppression. Also, the government has been demanded to immediately fix the date for the election of free students’ union in campuses.

General Secretary of Nepal Students’ Union, Baldev Timilsina, informed that the meeting also discussed how the new variant of COVID-19 could impact the educational activities.

The joint students’ organization comprises the representatives of students wings affiliated to Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party, ANNISU and ANNFSU (Sixth).
