Lalitpur metropolis to provided Rs 10 thousand allowance to senior citizens

LALITPUR: The Lalitpur Metropolitan City is providing Rs 10 thousand allowance to senior citizens.

The metropolis is providing the allowance to the elders so that they would be able to celebrate the festivals with gaiety.

The allowance would be given to the senior citizens once a year during the Bada Dashain festival, Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan said.

“The senior citizens who are the living history of society would be happy after getting this money. We are taking this initiative so that the elders will not have to depend on their children for festival expenses,” he added.

The Lalitpur Metropolitan City used to provide festival allowance of Rs 5000 to the senior citizens of the designated age until last year.

It has increased Rs 5000 to the allowance from this year.

It is said there are around 7,000 senior citizens in the metropolis eligible for this allowance.
