KATHMANDU: Letting the intraparty conflict come ashore, the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal’s Federal Council Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and Chairman Upendra Yadav have called separate central committee meetings.

According to sources, the Dr. Bhattarai faction has convened an extended meeting of the Central Committee in Kathmandu on July 12 and 13, while the Upendra faction has convened a meeting of the Central Committee in Birgunj on July 13 and 14.

“The Central Committee meeting to be held on July 12 and 13 will discuss internal issues, local election review, organization and future action plan,” a leader close to Dr. Bhattarai said on Sunday, adding, “The agendas have been sent to office bearers, central members and members of the federal council.”

Dr. Bhattarai is planning to present a political report on current issues at the meeting.

Similarly, Chairman Yadav’s faction has claimed that only the Central Committee meeting to be held in Birgunj will be valid and there is no meeting in Kathmandu.

According to JSP’s Central Office Chief Prakash Adhikari, all central members are notified to attend the central committee meeting to be held in Birgunj.

“There is no such official meeting of the party in Kathmandu on the same day,” he said in a statement.

JSP top leaders’ call for a central committee meeting almost at the same time yet in different places indicates the looming split of the party.

JSP is division oriented. There is news that Federal Council Chairman Dr. Bhattarai and Central Executive Committee Chairman Yadav agreed to separate in a cordial atmosphere.
