UML can dissolve local bodies if it wins them: NC Prez Deuba

Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the CPN-UML could dissolve the local levels itself if it wins the local elections.

Addressing a joint election rally of the five-party alliance in Dhangadhi on Monday, Deuba said that the UML, which had dissolved the House of Representatives twice, could also dissolve the local level if it wins at the local level.

Upcoming local election to be cheaper than 2017’s poll: EC

The Election Commission (EC) has said the local level election being held on May 13 this year is going to cost less than the local election held in 2017.

Stating that exact expense per voter was likely to be known after the election, EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel said, “Nevertheless, we can say that this May 13 election is going to be less expensive than the one held in 2017.”

NEPSE gains 12.27 points on Sunday

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed double digits gain on Monday.

The index rose by 12.27 points and closed at 22,68.84 points on the second trading day of this week. The Sensitive Index also gained 3.12 points to settle at 439.47 points.

Coalition is for election, and also for completing peace process: NC Vice President

Nepali Congress Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka has said that the five-party coalition is not only for the election purpose but also for the completion of the peace process.

Addressing the election assembly at Pipal Chautara in Birendranagar today, he argued that the coalition was forged for protecting the constitution and the republic, and not for making anyone victorious or face defeat.
