NC urges voters to actively participate in upcoming election



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has requested the voters to actively participate in the May 13 local level election and exercise their voting rights which would advance development works at the local level while enhancing delivery of public services.

At a press conference organized at the party’s central office today (Monday), NC Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat urged the voters to cast their vote without any fear and intimidation.

Stating that the election would be held in a fearless environment, Spokesperson Mahat expressed, “We look forward to healthy competition in all the 753 local levels.”

Condemning murder of NC provincial representative Anil Pariyar in Chitwan, the Spokesperson of the ruling party demanded stern action against the culprits.

Informing about clashes in Rukum Paschim, Bajura, Saptari, Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot, Pandusen and some other places between the cadres of NC and other political parties, he appealed with the government to enable fearless environment for the election.

According to him, NC was working towards transforming the local government into a point of service to the citizens, providing education and skill-oriented training to all by promoting people-oriented governance system, ensuring citizenship-friendly service delivery from ward-level, connecting internet service in all villages and urban human settlements and increasing investment in education by two fold among others.

Furthermore, he reaffirmed the commitment of NC to set up Employment Bank and Enterprise Development Center in every local level, to appoint adequate human resources for justice delivery, determining criteria for services and infrastructures, development of forest in over 305 local units having less than one hectare of land and recycling and generating income from garbage among others.
