Ukraine-Russia war likely to affect over 8,000 Nepali migrant workers

KATHMANDU: More than 8,000 Nepali people are working in Ukraine and neighboring countries of Russia.

The Ukraine-Russia war is likely to impact over 8,015 Nepali migrant workers working in over half a dozen countries including Romania, Poland and Hungary.

With the war ever raging between the two countries, the Department of Foreign Employment has requested Nepali migrant workers to be safe.

Director General of the Department Shesh Narayan Paudel said that the labor permit would be halted if demand comes from these countries.

Out of 800,000 Nepalis, 5,305 are working in Romania, 2,213 in Poland, 360 in Russia, 53 in Hungary and 85 in Ukraine for the last three years.
