23 cameras installed to count tigers stolen



NEPALGUNJ: As many as 23 cameras installed in the Bardiya National Park (BNP) to count tigers have been stolen.

Tigers are being counted in four blocks in the Bardiya-Banke complex of the BNP.

While blocks one and two falls in the Bardiya National Park area, block number three includes parts of Bardiya and Banke National Park.

Likewise, block 4 is in the Banke National Park.

Dr. Rabin Kadariya, head of the office of the National Nature Conservation Fund, Bardiya, informed that the work in blocks one and two have been completed.

They are currently working in block number three.

According to him, nine cameras have been stolen in block number one and four cameras in block number two and three.

Meanwhile, elephants have destroyed six cameras installed in the park.

The price of one camera is said to be Rs 40,000.

According to a 2018 report, there are 87 tigers in Bardiya and 21 in Banke National Park.

It is estimated that the number of tigers has increased in Banke and Bardiya after the completion of the work of block number one and two and the work of block number three.
