Comedian Singh granted bail after contracting COVID-19



KATHMANDU: Comedian Apoorva Kshitij Singh, who was accused of hurting the sentiments of the Newar community, has contracted COVID-19 and has been granted bail.

Following the confirmation of him being infected, court released on bail for treatment.

According to Chief of Kathmandu District Government Attorney Office Ganga Paudel, Singh was released for treatment.

Police had admitted him to Bir Hospital for treatment last Tuesday after he fell ill in the custody of District Police Complex Teku, Kathmandu.

Kathmandu District Court had on Wednesday extended Singh’s remand for five more days.

Police had arrested him on August 28 and kept in custody since then.
