Nepal Railways conducts test run on Kurtha-Bijalpura section

JANAKPURDHAM: Nepal Railways Company on Thursday conducted a test run on the Kurtha-Bijapulra section of the trans-border railway line.

According to the company, it conducted the test run after all physical works on the track were completed.

The first phase of the Nepal-India railway line, which links Jayanagar of India with Kurtha of Nepal, came into operation in March.

The 35-kilometer railway line was jointly flagged by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

“The trail ran at the speed of 100 km per hour on the new track,” said Rabindra Sah, an engineer of the Nepal Railways Company.

According to Sah, the Bijapurla-Bardibas section of the railway line will be ready for test run very soon.

The Nepal-India railway line will meet Nepal’s planned East-West Railway at Bardibas.
