Khadka calls NC central committee meeting on Tuesday

KATHMANDU: Purna Bahadur Khadka, who has been issuing notices as the acting president of Nepali Congress, has called a meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee elected from the 14th general convention.

According to party sources, the meeting has been scheduled for 11 am on Tuesday at Smart Party Palace in Dhumbarahi.

Provincial committee presidents who had not supported the proposal for a special convention have also been invited to attend the meeting.

Khadka has also called a gathering of district presidents of the party.

The meeting of district presidents has been scheduled for April 2 and is reportedly aimed at district leaders aligned with former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, who had opposed the proposal for a special convention.

Khadka called both meetings in his capacity as acting president after the arrest of senior Congress leader and former home minister Ramesh Lekhak.
