Tourist guides, hotel entrepreneurs taking tourists inside Bouddhanath area without ticket to face action



KATHMANDU: Action would be taken against tourist guides and hotel entrepreneurs involved in facilitating entry of tourists into Bouddhanath area without ticket.

Bouddhanath Area Development Committee has warned of action against those tourist guides and hotel entrepreneurs after it was found that tourists entered inside the world heritage site without tickets in collusion with tourist guides and hotel entrepreneurs.

Executive Director of the Committee, Nayan Kumar Lama said a list of the hotels located from Chuchchepati to Jorpati is going to be prepared in the first phase for the action.

Ticket counter of the Committee is opened from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. According to the Committee, tourists are found staying at hotels in the night and visiting Bouddhanath area in the morning without ticket.

Tourists are found to be entering Bouddhanath area without ticket in collusion with hotel entrepreneurs, tourist guides and staffs deputed in ticket counter.

The Committee held discussion with hotel entrepreneurs in this regard in the first phase.

The Committee has determined Rs 100 per person as the entry fee for tourists from SAARC countries and Rs 400 per person for visitors from other countries except SAARC.

Thousands of tourists visit Bouddhanath every month.
