KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has reached the residence of UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli to hold a discussion on ending the impasse in parliament.
The UML has been continuously obstructing the meeting of the House of Representatives for the past few months.
According to a source, Prime Minister Deuba reached Oli’s residence in Balkot Saturday for discussion as the UML boycotted an all-party meeting called to discuss the issue.
Prime Minister’s Press Coordinator Govinda Pariyar said PM Deuba requested the opposition leader to clear obstruction in parliament and also sought UML’s support in advancing the United States grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement.
Earlier Friday, the ruling coalition’s High-level Political Coordination Committee urged Prime Minister Deuba to take initiative to resolve the impasse in parliament by holding talks with opposition leader Oli.
Prior to this, Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader and Coordinator of Political Coordination Committee Ram Chandra Poudel also reached Balkot to request Oli to end the blockade in parliament.
