HoR meeting taking place at 1 pm today

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is taking place at 1 pm today.

The HoR meeting on Tuesday unanimously endorsed the ‘Bill designed to Amend Some Nepal Act-2079 BS’.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentarian Affairs Govinda Prasad Sharma Koirala presented the proposal seeking consideration on the Bill last Sunday.

Parliamentarian Prem Suwal had objected to the proposal, arguing that there was no quorum in the parliament to endorse the proposal and seeking a decision on the Bill.

The meeting was postponed after Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota rang the bell for three minutes and asked to count the quorum which was not met.

The government in the Bill had mentioned that the tenure of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly will end from the day of the first meeting of the parliaments after the new election.

Both the ruling parties and opposition had presented the amendment proposal expressing qualms over the Bill.
