Sajha Yatayat-run electric buses ply Kathmandu roads from today

Electric buses procured by cooperative bus company Sajha Yatayat have begun formal operation in Kathmandu from Thursday.

Three electric buses have begun plying Kathmandu roads after the public bus service was inaugurated by cooperative’s founding chairperson Bishwa Bandhu Thapa today. Thapa, waving a green flag, inaugurated the service.

Thapa said the buses now were part of Kathmandu Valley’s public transportation system and will ply on exisiting routes of Sajha buses.

All the three electric buses are being driven by women drivers.

SC orders to give continuity to Adhikari as NAC Executive Chair

The Supreme Court has issued an interlocutory order, asking the government to give continuity to Yubaraj Adhikari as its Executive Chairperson.

Adhikari was appointed for four years by the government, so his term needs to be enforced, the SC said.

Meanwhile, the SC also prohibited current General Manager at NAC, Dipuraj Jwarchan, from working.

Adhikari was appointed by the government on October 28, 2021.

DIG Rai new Nepal Police Spokesperson

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Tek Prasad Rai has been appointed the Central Spokesperson of Nepal Police.

He was recently promoted from Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to DIG.

According to the Police Headquarters, he has assumed the responsibility of the Police Spokesperson from Thursday.

Prior to his promotion, he was the Chief of the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau at Babar Mahal.

60 women to trek to Shey Phoksundo to draw attention to climate change impact

A group of 60 women will trek in the remote Phoksundo area of ​​Dolpa to draw attention to the impact of climate change on women’s lives and tourism.

A walk will be held in the remote area of ​​Karnali with the participation of women leaders of various sectors including the people’s representatives of all seven provinces in October 2022.

Likewise, a trek to Mount Everest basecamp was also organized on March 8.

Nepal Police to look after security in Kathmandu Valley in coordination of Provincial Police

A proposal has been brought according to which Nepal Police will look after the security in the Kathmandu Valley (Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur) in coordination of the Provincial Police.

The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives has arrived at a conclusion to proceed ahead with a bill designed to amend the Nepal Police and Provincial Police (Operation, Supervision and Coordination) Act, 2076 BS, by adding to it a clause providing responsibility to the Province as well.

125-member Politburo proposed in Maoist Center

CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has proposed a 125-member politburo.

The proposal was made at a Central Committee meeting held at Pragya Pratisthan, in Kathmandu, on Thursday.

While reading out the names of proposed 125 Politburo members, Prachanda said, “It would have been easier to elect everyone by holding elections. But, we are not in a position to do that now.”

“However, a revolutionary communist party could be formed by forming committees from the fusion of election and evaluation,” he added.

Lightning strike injures 14 paddy planters in Chitwan

Lightning strike has injured 14 paddy planters at Kalika municipality in Chitwan.

The planters who were transplanting rice seedlings in the paddy field of Kamala BK, a local of Kalika-8, Majhuwa, had rushed to local Jantari Praja’s house for protection after rainfall.

At the same moment, lightning strike along with windstorm and rainfall hit the planters leaving them injured, the District Police Office said.

Five among the injured are being treated at Bharatpur Hospital. Nine others had returned home last night after treatment, police informed.
