Nepal Airlines renting engine to fly A-320 aircraft docked in Doha, Qatar



KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines A-320 aircraft, which is grounded in Doha, Qatar, is set to be flown by renting an engine.

According to Nepal Airlines Spokesperson Archana Khadka, the aircraft is in Qatar since December 28, 2021. There was a problem with the engine of the plane after the aircraft landed safely in Doha.

A team of engineers of Qatar Airways inspected the aircraft and found an internal defect in the left engine of the plane. The team advised replacing the faulty engine.

Khadka said following that, Nepal Airlines consulted with the engine manufacturer PW / IAE and the manufacturer suggested replacing the engine and carrying out the repair.

Nepal Airlines is going to rent an engine to keep the plane flying while repair works on the faulty engine would be done.

Bids were invited on January 9, 2022, for the purpose of renting the aircraft engine. The engine will be hired from Amsterdam-based MTU Maintenance Lease Service and the process is moving forward, said Khadka.

Nepal Airlines invited bids on January 24, 2022, for the repair of the faulty engine. The company selected would repair the engine.
