Minister Shrestha instructs to keep Pashupati Area clean

KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Jivanram Shrestha has inspected Pashupatinath Temple area on Saturday and instructed to keep Pashupati area clean.

Minister Shrestha reached various places inside the Pashupati Area and took stock of the situation and management there.

After observing heritages and sites such as Bishwaroop Temple, Mrigasthali, Sleshmantak Forest and idols there and instructed the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) to pay attention to cleanliness of these areas.

He also directed the PADT officials to make arrangements to facilitate the devotees, pilgrims, pedestrians and tourists.

On the occasion, he inquired about reconstruction process of the Lichhavi-era Bishwaroop Temple. The Temple sustained damages in the Gorkha Earthquake in 2015.

Stating that the Pashupati Area, which has cultural and archeological importance, is an open museum, the Minister also asked the PADT officials to streamline Ghats, water, electricity and public toilets to provide services the people coming to the Pashupati Area.

The government has put the Pashupati Area Reform Program as a national pride project and broader reform programs and reconstruction process are being carried out accordingly, informed PADT member-secretary Dr Milan Kumar Thapa.

Thapa briefed Minister Shrestha about the current activities of the PADT.
