With COVID-19 case subside TIA records outflow higher than inflow

KATHMANDU: With the subsiding of the coronavirus cases in and outside the country, the number of people leaving the country has again surpassed the number of people returning to Nepal.

According to the Department of Immigration, a total of 492,743 Nepalis have flown in and out from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in January, February, and March.

In the last three months, 207,695 people returned to Nepal from TIA. In the same period, 285,048 Nepalis left Nepal for study, employment, and other reasons.

Last March alone, 80,733 Nepalis returned home from many countries whereas 95,555 went to different countries through TIA.

Similarly, 105,972 Nepalis left the country in January alone. In the same period, 72,524 people had returned home.

Likewise, 54,438 Nepalis returned home and 80,521 went to different countries in February, according to the Department.
