KATHMANDU: COVID19 Crisis Management Coordination Center (CCMCC) has recommended the opening of schools from next week to resume physical teaching-learning activities and the lifting of the odd-even rule on vehicles.
Secretary at the Ministry of Health Dr. Roshan Pokharel said a meeting of the CCMCC on Sunday had decided to recommend the opening of the school so that physical education could be resumed. “It has been concluded that physical teaching-learning activities could resume now that COVID19 cases are on the decline,” said Dr. Pokharel said.
Schools were closed since mid-January owing to the surge of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. CCMCC is convinced that virus infections are declining of late. As the infection subsided, some local levels began operating schools. Stakeholders in the education sector have also been urging authorities concerned to open schools.
Meanwhile, district administrations of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur have lifted the odd-even rule that was implemented to curb the third wave of COVID-19. Valley administrations decided to lift the odd-even rule from Sunday midnight on the recommendation of CCMCC.
