Youth arrested with golden tortoise in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a youth in possession of a golden tortoise from Chabahil in Kathmandu on Thursday.

The arrested has been identified as Ashish Thapa Gharti, 23, a permanent resident of Kirtipur Municipality-8 and currently residing in Sankhu of Shankharapur Municipality.

Police recovered a golden tortoise from a bag carried by Thapa from Khotang Halesi Guest House in Chabahil.

Acting on a tip-off that the tortoise was being sold for Rs two million, a team of Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Minbhawan, nabbed Thapa.

The police submitted the arrested along with the animal to Kathmandu District Forest Office for necessary investigation and action.
