KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has rejected the writ petition filed by the then Member Secretary Ramesh Silwal against the National Sports Council’s decision to dismiss him.

A division bench of Justices Anil Kumar Sinha and Kumar Regmi on Tuesday dismissed the writ petition filed by Silwal.

The verdict has thrown cold water in former Member Secretary Silwal’s dream of reclaiming the post.

Silwal, who was appointed the member secretary by then KP Oli-led government, was dismissed after Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba became the Prime Minister. Deuba government has appointed Tanka Lal Ghising as the new Member Secretary. However, Ghising could not execute the responsibility owing to the dispute over the post.

Tuesday’s verdict has cleared Ghising’s route.

The full text of the Tuesday’s verdict has not been made available yet.
