Classmate’s role suspected in Sunuwar’s murder in Udayapur



KATHMANDU: In the murder of Kabita Sunuwar, police have suspected the involvement of Sunuwar’s classmate. Sunuwar was a student in Belka Municipality-3 in Udayapur.

According to District Police Office, Udayapur, the victim was killed during a fight between Sunuwar and another student of her class.

Police have arrested 19-year-old Binod Dhakal and a 17-year-old minor girl on the charge of killing Sunuwar. The arrested minor girl was studying in Grade 10 of Koshi Janata Secondary School, Rampur, along with the deceased Kabita Sunuwar.

District Police Office, Udayapur, said, “Sunuwar and her classmate harbored grudge against each other for long and the minor girl sought her brother Dhakal’s help to kill Kabita.”

According to the police, the three were heading to study tuition on Tuesday morning. “While Dhakal did not belong to the same school, he accompanied his sister,” said an official involved in the investigation, adding, “On the way, they had dispute and Dhakal and his sister hit Sunuwar with a beer bottle first and them stoned her to death.”

Police have also recovered the pieces of the beer bottle and a stone used in the incident.

Police are preparing to take the body for postmortem.
