RPP Chair Lingden likely to resign as lawmaker

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden is likely to resign from the post of lawmaker.

The RPP chair is preparing to announce his resignation during his address to the House of Representatives on Sunday.

The move comes as the leaders of the ruling parties are giving statements that indicate the tenure of the parliament could extend and the debate on the issue is ongoing.

“The RPP chair will announce his resignation as parliamentarian while addressing the Parliament meeting today,” RPP sources said.

He is about to resign as lawmaker due to his disagreement on extending the life of the existing House of Representatives even when the date for the election for House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies has been fixed on November 20.

Lingden was elected as RPP lawmaker from Jhapa in 2017 elections.
