Landslide obstructs Jamune-Khaireni road

DAMAULI: The Jamune-Khaireni road under the Prithviraj highway has been blocked by landsides triggered by incessant rain since Saturday night.

The highway has been shut for two-way traffic since this morning after a landslide occurred in Mauryodar, Myagde Rural Municipality-6.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Yuvraj Khadka said that the Jamune-Kharenitar road has been completely blocked after a landslide fell on the road.

He said that a police team is working to clear the landslide debris. As rain continues, it is likely to take some time before the road is opened for traffic.

Likewise, the Rapti river has blocked the road in Tharpu Bazar of the ward no. 4 in the same rural municipality.

Local resident Bhimalal Shrestha said that the river has started flowing over the road.
