Nepal-Japan joint working committee meeting to be held today



KATHMANDU: The Nepal-Japan joint working committee formed to facilitate the Japanese labour market to Nepali youths is being held today.

The meeting is being held under the leadership of Joint Secretary at Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Rajiv Pokhrel; where there will be the representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

Similarly, the Japanese delegation will be led by assistant deputy secretary of Japan government, Chosumo Nakagawa, according to Joint Secretary at Labour Ministry, Dunduraj Ghimire.

He further said the meeting will discuss on the entire gamut of issues relating to employment to Nepali citizens in Japan.

The first meeting of the joint committee was held virtually in November, 2020. As per the meeting, some 850 Nepalis have been provided employments in the sectors of caregiving, agriculture, construction and restaurant in Japan.

A labour agreement was reached between Nepal and Japan on specified skill workers (SSW) in 2019.
