Hearing on AIG Pokhrel’s petition to continue on Thursday



KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) will hear the petition filed by AIG Bishwaraj Pokhrel against the appointment of the Inspector General of Nepal Police tomorrow.

On Wednesday, the bench of Justice Sushma Lata Mathema conducted a hearing on the petition against the appointment of Additional Inspector of General of Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh as the chief of Nepal Police.

The hearing will continue tomorrow (Thursday) as it could not be completed today.

AIG Pokhrel had filed a petition at the SC stating that an officer junior to him was appointed IGP.

He had on May 2 filed the petition against the promotion of AIG Singh to the 29th IGP of Nepal Police.

A cabinet meeting on May 1 promoted Singh to the IGP. The writ petition demanded annulment of the promotion of Singh as he is one-and-a-half year junior to him.
