Absconding insurance and securities case defendant arrested in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested an absconding defendant accused of offenses under the Insurance Act, 2022 (2079 BS) and the Securities Act, 2007 (2063 BS).

According to the CIB, Mrigendranath Rimal, a resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-7, was arrested from Sifal on Thursday based on complaints filed by the Nepal Insurance Authority and the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON).

Police said Rimal had been absconding in connection with the case.

Following his arrest, he was presented before the Kathmandu District Court in Babarmahal for further legal proceedings, the CIB said.

Police added that the case also names Dipak Bhatta and several other individuals, who are accused of offenses under the Insurance Act, 2022, and the Securities Act, 2007.
