UML Chair Oli regrets people think Prachanda a leftist

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has regretted that the public still thinks CPN-Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ a leftist.

Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Monday, the UML Chair claimed that the Maoist Center chairman has no traits of communists.

UML Chair Oli, who had been with Prachanda in the same party as one of the chairmen of then ruling Nepal Communist Party, asked the public not to compare him (Oli) with the Maoist Chairman.

“When I am a communist, Prachanda cannot be a communist. That is not possible. How can two things be the same? He causes conflict in the country for no reason. I am for peace. He tries to divide people into castes. I try to reconcile,” he said comparing and contrasting the two leaders.

Former Prime Minister Oli, who spent a considerable time back lashing the Maoist Center and Chairman Prachanda, accused the latter of causing destruction and division throughout the country.

He added that Maoist Chairman Prachanda was never ready for the party unity and he (Oli) had forcibly tried to take the Maoist leader together so as to unite the communist party.
