KATHMANDU: The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) has filed a case against five persons, including Shobha Kant Dhakal, the main accused in the Baluwatar land scandal on Tuesday.

According to sources, DRI filed a case of revenue fraud against Saroj Dhakal, Uma Kumari Dhakal, Santu Shrestha and Rajeshwar Shrestha considering their role in the fraud.

DRI filed the case in Patan High Court demanding a fine of Rs 2.40 billion from them.

Shrestha, the proprietor of Rajeshwar & Company, conducted the audit of Ansan Pvt.

It was found that Shrestha had prepared fraudulent, fake and false value added tax returns with the intention of leaking revenue.

He was found involved in tax evasion by preparing the report showing zero turnover. The department demanded half punishment for auditor Shrestha for making false details of tax evasion.

Shrestha has been sued as an abettor in the case.
