Digital payment government’s top priority: Communications Minister Karki



KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has said the implementation of a digital payment system was the top priority of the government. As the government Spokesperson said, the government is promoting the cashless payment system.

In his address to the second round of ‘Fonepay Digital Economy Conclave 2022’ organized by the Brandworth Pvt Ltd here today, the Minister pledged to document the conclusions of the event and use them as the basis for the relevant policies making ahead.

He was hopeful that the program helps better enforce the ‘Digital Nepal Framework’ program.
As he said on the occasion, he felt a level of enthusiasm among the participants of the program and wished to see it in the future too. He thought of connecting the program to the sustainable development goals as the society would be directly benefited from this kind of gathering.

Citing that no nation could find a pace of development in absence of the IT development, he sought access and participation of the people from all quarters of life in IT.

The Minister pledged the government support to connect far-flung areas with IT systems and said the government’s decision to minimize the charge of internet aimed to ensure people’s access to IT. “The government is ever positive to making internet service more affordable and accessible with the enchantment of its quality.”
