Closed camp starts for national cricket squad



KATHMANDU: The closed-door training of Nepali national men’s cricket squad kicked off from today in view of the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier scheduled to be held in Oman.

Earlier, squad head coach Pubudu Dassanayake had announced a 30-member preliminary team for the World Cup qualification round.

The closed camp that starts at Tribhuvan University (TU) Cricket Ground in Kirtipur comprised 14 trainees on the first day.

Six players are awaiting the PCR test report to join the group while team Captain Sandeep Lamichhane is presently in Australia to play the Big Bash League.

According to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), other nine players will soon join the session as they are preparing for test for COVID-19.

Gyanendra Malla, Dipendra Singh Airee, Sharad Vesawkar, Karan KC, Sompal Kami, Aarif Sheikh, Binod Bhandari, Kushal Malla, Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, and Kamal Singh Airee are among those players selected for the closed exercise.

Likewise, other players in the team are Shahab Alam, Sundeep Jora, Abinash Bohara, Sushan Bhari, Pawan Sarraf, Bikram Sob, Bhim Sarki, Rohit Kumar Poudel, Pradeep Airee, Gulshan Jha, Nandan Yadav, Jitendra Kumar Mukhiya, Bibek Yadav, Saurabh Khanal, Rajesh Pulami, Kishor Mahato, Sagar Dhakal and Hari Shankar Shah.
