Upper House lawmakers call for finding ways to reduce water-induced disaster loss

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers have drawn the attention of the government to take steps to reduce losses caused by water-induced disasters as monsoon is around the corner.

They were taking part in the zero hour of the Thursday’s session of the National Assembly.

On the occasion, the CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmaker Nanda Chapain suggested that the government should relocate the settlements at the risk of flooding to safety in preparedness.

Similarly, the CPN (UML)’s Dipa Gurung demanded removal of unmanaged electric cables in the roads while UML’s Dil Kumari Rawal Thapa asked for action against those involved in violence against women.

Prakash Pantha from the Nepali Congress asked the government to have preparedness against monkey pox disease spreading across the globe and the CPN (Maoist Center)’s Mahesh Kumar Mahara demanded action against those involved in dismantling the statues of martyrs in Nepalgunj.
