Festivals help preserve and promote cultural heritage

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has wished happiness, peace and prosperity to the Tamang community on the occasion of Sonam Lhosar.

Holmo, Thakali, Jirel, Nesyangwa, Bhote, Dura, Lepcha and other castes living in different parts of the country have been celebrating this festival according to their own style and tradition.

President Bhandari said that such festivals are also helping to enhance our original identity by protecting and promoting our cultural heritage.

“In a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-culturally diverse Nepali society, I believe that festivals like Sonam Lhosar will enhance the spirit of mutual harmony, tolerance and brotherhood among all Nepalis and help strengthen greater national unity,” the President has said in the message.
