NC Spokesperson slams EC for ignoring opposition parties’ poll code violations

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat has criticized the Election Commission for not taking any action against the opposition parties for violating the code of conduct.

Speaking at a press conference held at the party office in Sanepa on Sunday, he expressed dissatisfaction that the Election Commission (EC) sought clarification from the NC but ignored violations of the opposition parties.

“I would like to draw attention of the EC towards outright violation of poll code by opposition parties,” he said, adding that the EC that sought clarification from us is mute spectator to violations of opposition. “It has not taken action against others.”

He also clarified that the party would not take action against those leaders and cadres who withdrew rebel candidacies and engaged in election publicity in line with party decision.

Mahat added that the decision of the party was violated only in a few places and the decision has been implemented in other places with handful of exceptions.
