Prachanda refers to his political dossier to understand view on MCC

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged to understand his stance on United States-back Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact from what is written in his political dossier.

In course of responding to concerns raised on Prachanda-tabled political dossier at the Maoist’s 8th General Convention at Nepal Academy in Kathmandu Friday, Prachanda said, “There is no need to talk much about MCC. To sum up, please understand what is written in the report.”

Following his remark, there was a burst of laughter across the hall where the closed session took place today.

In his report, Prachanda said that the MCC should be passed after necessary amendment to the compact to make it favorable to national interest.

However, during the closed-door discussion, most of the delegates were of the view that the MCC should be scrapped. Delegates of the general convention said Prachanda’s reference to the dossier is ambigious.

In the 45-page political dossier submitted by the Maoist chair in the general convention, Prachanda accused the United States of preparing for war and strengthening ties with India for the purpose. He alleged that America invested a huge amount of money and allocated military budget to maintain its monopoly in multi-national companies, including Microsoft Corporation, Automatic equipment, and airplanes to strengthen its military power.

“America has already established its military networks in 70 countries across the world. To fulfil its vested-interest of imperialism, it has been intentionally selling weapons to escalate racial conflicts, violent classes and local wars,” reads the dossier.

Commenting on the current international circumstances, Prachanda, in the document, has alleged that America established military partnerships with the United Kingdom (UK), Australia and India to check emerging power China in the Indo Pacific Region. America is establishing friendly ties with India under this strategy, Prachanda wrote.
