33-kg-gold scam-accused Bhoje lands in police net



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Bhoj Raj Bhandari alias Bhoje, a fugitive accused of the 33-kg-gold scam.

Bhandari, who had gone into hiding after being accused of the high profile gold scam, was caught by the police on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu arrested Bhandari from Gaushala in Kathmandu.

According to Sanjiv Shakya’s complaint, Bhandari had operated a criminal group including Surendra Gautam to carry out abduction and hostage-taking along with illegal trade of gold smuggling.

Defendant Bhandari, a fugitive in the case filed by Shakya, is a resident of Gauradaha Municipality-8, Jhapa.
