Police nab drug peddlers from various places



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two drug peddlers from various parts of the country Tuesday.

The arrested have been identified as Dibya Rai, 21, of Sunsari Barakhshetra Municipality-7 and Bikal Rana, 24, of Nagdhunga of Pokhara Metropolitan City.

Rai was arrested Tuesday morning while returning from Indian side of the border along with six ampoules of Lupijesic, six ampoules of Diazepam, six ampoules of Avil and six ampoules of Phenergan from Hulas Chowk, Biratnagar Metropolitan City-16.

Similarly, Rana was arrested this morning with 31 ampoules of Diazepam, 31 ampoules of Phenergan and 31 ampoules of Nurfin from Buddha Chowk, Pokhara, Kaski. Acting on a tip-off that drugs were being smuggled in a scooter, a team of police deployed from the Ward Police Office, Rambazar in Pokhara recovered the drugs hidden in the visor of Rana’s scooter.

Similarly, the police seized about 10.2 kg cannabis from Madhuwani village of Godaita Municipality-12, Sarlahi, on Tuesday. According to Sarlahi police, the unidentified rider of Ba 48 Pa 9956 motorcycle fled from the site after sensing the police were onto him. The police are searching for the fugitive.
