There is need of people-oriented and scientific education in nation: Vice President



KATHMANDU: Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has underscored the need for pro-public and scientific education in the country.

The Vice President said so while inaugurating the Shreemad Bhagawat Saptaha Mahayagya, a weeklong religious scripture recitation program that started at Chandikadevi Secondary School at Badbhanjyang, Chandragiri Municipality-2.’

Vice President Pun also pointed out the need of reforming the education system for promoting people-oriented and scientific education.

“There is a need of waging movement for equality in education by removing the gaps surfaced in the education sector.

The quality of education in the community schools is found improving in recent days. Transformation of the education sector is possible if the school management committee and the school moved ahead hand-in-hand,” he said.

Vice President Pun stressed giving priority to the community schools.

World Hindu Federation (WHF) central president and former minister Ram Chandra Adhikari said the local governments have a major responsibility in improving the education standards at community schools and promoting technical education.

Former lawmaker Rupa Maharjann and Chandragiri Municipality-2 chairperson Gopi Surkheti, among the speakers, spoke of the need of improving the physical facilities and quality of education of the community schools where the children of the economically disadvantaged people mostly come.

The coordinator of the religious program organizing main committee and school management committee chairperson, Shrawan Subedi said the religious program has been organized to collect funds for improving the physical facilities at the school.

Pandit Basudev Ghimire will be reciting the Shreemad Bhagawat religious text in the program.
