Opposition parties warn government to refrain from making decisions having long-term impact

KATHMANDU: Coming down heavily on the government for violating the constitution, leaders of the opposition parties have warned the government not to undertake any work that could have a long-term impact.

Likewise the leaders of opposition political parties – Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist Center, Janata Samajbadi Forum led by Upendra Yadav, disgruntled leader of CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Rastriya Janamorcha Party urged government bodies to refrain from engaging in undemocratic and unconstitutional activities.

A meeting of the opposition leaders held at Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilakantha on Sunday decided to urge the constitutional and government bodies to not involve in making undemocratic decisions.

“We have decided to urge the government bodies not to be supportive of undemocratic activities of the government,” a leader said.

The meeting also discussed the future course of action against the government, a leader said.

Leaders of the opposition alliance, who filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court demanding the election of Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister, have expedited talks of late.
