Government says health system cannot accommodate more beds and ICUs

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has said that the country’s health system cannot accommodate more beds and ICUs owing to the widespread of the coronavirus pandemic and has appealed all to abide by the health protocols.

Issuing an appeal in the name of the public on Friday, the ministry has appealed all to stay safe abiding by precautionary measures and informed that the incumbent health system cannot provide better care to more people at hospitals.

The ministry has also informed that the number of severely affected districts in the country has also increased.

The ministry has added eight more districts to the list, making the number of severely affected districts 22.

The worst affected districts are Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Parsa, Bara, Dhanusha, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Kaski, Dang, Banke, Rupandehi, Palpa, Bardiya, Kapilvastu, Surkhet, Kailali and Kanchanpur.

As preventive measures, the ministry has appealed all to take care of the issues like wearing the mask, maintaining physical distance, washing hands with soap and water, and not moving inside or outside the country.
