Prime Minister Deuba transits Doha on way to Glasgow



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has reached Qatar’s capital Doha on Friday afternoon in course of attending the ‘World Leaders Summit’ to be held in Glasgow city of the United Kingdom.

Leading a high-level Nepali delegation to the Summit of the 26th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), Prime Minister Deuba had left for the United Kingdom on Friday morning by Qatar Airways. He reached at the Hamad International Airport, Doha.

The Prime Minister was received by Charge d’ affaires of Nepal for Qatar Laxman Khanal and senior officials of the embassy. PM Deuba-led delegation has departed for the UK capital, London, from Doha this afternoon.

Prime Minster Deuba would remain in London on Saturday and Sunday where he is scheduled to attend different meetings and programs.

The 21-member Nepali delegation comprises PM Deuba, Minister for Forests and Environment, Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Foreign Affairs Ministry Secretary Bharat Raj Poudyal, Secretary at the Ministry of Forests and Environment, Dr Prem Narayan Kandel, Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini, Home Ministry Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey, National Planning Commission (NPC) Secretary Kewal Prasad Bhandari and Chair of the National Trust for Nature Conservation, Dr Madhav Bahadur Karki, among others.

Along with the 26th Conference of Parties (COP) on UNFCCC from October 31 to November 12, British Prime Minister Borris Johnson is hosting a ‘World Leaders Summit’ on November 1 and 2. The Prime Minister is scheduled to return from the UK on the 3rd of November and arrive in Kathmandu on the morning of the 4th of November 2021.
